Disregarding Mental Health



Recently, I realized that mental health issues have become increasingly common.


It all began when I noticed my friend exhibiting bizarre behavior, often appearing visibly distressed. I was surprised she confided in me about the overwhelming experience of having numerous voices in her head, which contributed to her sleepless nights.



Witnessing her vulnerability, I realized she needs a supportive and understanding companion by her side. Unable to offer a medical solution to her condition, I chose to focus on diverting her attention and providing an outlet where she could express herself without judgment.


Our conversations gradually evolved like a platform where she could freely discuss her thoughts, feelings, and fears. Though I may not actively listened every time, I just hoped to create a safe space for her to unload her emotions and find temporary relief from the voices plaguing her mind. I introduced various topics that would captivate her attention and redirect her focus away from her internal struggles.


While my efforts may not have been a cure-all, I firmly believe that providing a listening ear and offering distraction played a significant part in her temporary healing until she's ready to seek professional support.


To anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation, I encourage you to be present for your loved ones. Actively listen to their struggles, do small gestures like checking them regularly, creating a non-judgmental environment, these can make a significant difference in their lives.
